Post op advise

2 weeks post op today and started soft foods. Decided on salmon and a few green beans for dinner. I weighed out my two ounces of salmon and took a TBSP of green beans. Over the next 20 minutes I ate my small bites and chewed and chewed and chewed and everything went great and it tasted wonderful. But after 20 minutes I was only about half way through the salmon and had just had a couple of beans. Is that ok or should I have tried for more? I have no feeling of hunger and no feeling of full so it’s hard to know if I could have eaten more. Dietician said to stop at 20 minutes and try again if I feel hungry again. But I don’t feel hunger.

I think as long as you are getting enough protein from somewhere, you're fine. Eventually hunger will return. But until then, you just eat what you can, when you can. Trust me on this: It's better to eat a little less than you think you should have than to over eat and end up sick.

Not having hunger after surgery was one of the sweetest most unexpected things I encountered. Who could imagine after the constant "head" hunger in our pre-surgery lives, that the hunger switch has been turned off. Even if it's temporary, what a wonderfully powerful feeling finally to have control over our eating. Congratulations on your progress so far. ❤❤
