Glad to hear you made it to the other side! My dr used the anti nausea patch, but it kept coming off in my hair, so I’m not sure how much that helped. I got the pills also to help with nausea.

I had the patch didn’t help, it was unsettling to say the least. But am much better today. I already had acid reflux before surgery so it was a given.

The vomiting scared me. I was sure i would bust my stitches. And because they took my gallbladder, everything was GREEN! TOOK ABOUT 3 DAYS FOR ALL THE BILE TO PUKE OUT!

You have had major surgery and its super- important to protect yourself.

1. Get a binder and wear it protectively.*
2. Take a fiber laxative or live to regret it.
3. If you're sitting up, hug a pillow all the time.
4. Sip water all the time. Use a sippy cup if you can't manage a glass or bottle. DONT USE A STRAW.
5. WATER IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN FOOD, but REAL BROTH is better than salty boullion.

*you can buy one at the hardware store, but most docs will give you one. If not, ASK.

Yay Roni! Glad you made it through ok! Sorry about the nausea. Get as much sleep as your body is asking you to, don't fight it as it is good for healing.

Well I think I have been doing the diet wrong. Clear liquid is what the book says but I have exception to add my antibiotics and duloxitine. So sent message after not getting return call yesterday and called again today. Waiting on call back. Does need to go to store. And pick up eye glasses.

Roni, call the receptionist and say you have an urgent question and youd like to speak with ANY available surgeon. Your meds issue should have been addressed before you went home.

Also any bariatric nurse in a doctors office can advise you.

The meds is fine. Duloxitine is a SSRI, if you stop cold turkey there is usually withdrawal. By the 4-5 day I get squirrels. So I got permission. And the antibiotic for UTI. I was instructed to empty the from the capsule. That antibiotic is soooo nasty Even after I put it in pudding. The duloxitine not as nasty but again empty the capsule. So I tried the Greek yogurt whips and that seems to help some. I did finally get to talk to the dietician around 4 pm today, after calling back again today. In the guide they gave when I first started in July the diet is “ clear liquid” for the first week After surgery. In the papers on release it says I could be on full liquid. My poor brain was going crazy, wondering if I was doing something wrong And which one was the real one. The answer is from what I put in the message I am doing good. No nausea, no heartburn, some tummy noises every so often but doing good. I got my new eyeglasses today they have purple frames. All is good.

I have a follow up ct scan in six months to look for changes. It could be damaged tissue from pneumonia. But as a former smoker of 17 years and smoke free for 28 years it is something to watch. And doc is on it.

1 week follow up from RNY surgery 4 pounds down. Written list of tracking foods, first 2 days low on milk but back on track by Friday. Full liquid until March 2. Doing good.

Tuesday I go to puréed/applesauce consistency foods plus oatmeal with pb powder for breakfast. I am so excited. And return to the daily food log. Groan. But I will stick to it for the next year. I am adding a picture of the log book I had made from the papers the dietician gave me. I put the date in upper right hand corner. Then I can add times when I eat Next to the meal or snack. At the space in the bottom I can write stuff about the day, how I feel, if something triggered a bad food choice or my biggie missing meals or snacks while on road (five hour round trip to dr appointments). I added a pic of the log in the pic section.

I still eat oatmeal with PB powder almost every morning for breakfast. I add in either a banana (I made more than 1 serving at a time) or unsweetened dark cocoa powder. YUM!

I had some s/f banana pudding a couple of days ago and didn’t poop for 4 days. I was getting very worried. Finally the plumbing worked but not without stress.

Is there a limit of how much laxative to take in one day? I put it in my protein smoothie in the morning. Even when I don’t eat anything with bananas. I know it is the banana that did this. Oh well I will keep the water thing in mind before bed. Used to eat Raisin Bran in the morning pre surgery and it worked so good. There is one other thing I am missing my pre/probiotic supplement since surgery. Knows that would help with the gut stuff too.

Time for update. Haven’t posted since I went to 5 week check up. I didn’t lose as much as the team thought I should have 7% is what I lost and they said it should have been closer to 10 %. We talked about portions and weighing what I am eating. I told them about the uncomfortableness I get after eating. I am not sure but I think the protein water is not agreeing with me.

Since I am a fall risk walking as exercise is not really an option. I have upgraded my bicycle with an battery operated a motor. It is a great assist when coming up to incline. I had trouble since the shop left the bike in high gear and I had trouble getting the bike to move. The shop guy came out and fixed the gear and things went better after that.Went to store with it and ran out of battery. Walked up an incline before I could get the bike moving, also learned I need to get on it from the raised curb.

In the meantime the weather is improving and I have been outside assessing my pool. on Saturday before Easter weather was nice so I went out to pool had leaf pole and hydro shot to try and drain the last 3-4 inches below the drain holes. some grocery store plastic bags in pool ugh and then I found the drowned squirrel. That really grossed me out. I was getting very frustrated knowing I wasn’t going to be able to get much more water out. it trickled out of the hydro shot and was taking forever. And then I did some research on the internet, I found a submersible pump online showed it to husband on Easter he said call the stores and see if they have any in stock. We went to the store at first looking at pond pumps then told them I saw one that could drain water off a driveway or window well. Sent us to plumbing found a submersible pump. Went home and nearly drained the pool dry. Called the pool place to get a replacement liner. Not in stock yet. Will call every other day, yes I am going to be a pest, the person I spoke with mentioned that the website is slow to update when parts come in. I need to fill the pool. So I can put solar cover on and start heating the water.

so yesterday after talking to the pool place I started thinking about how to level the pool site for the new liner. I went to the store and picked up some stuff that I think will help. I had a great time. Came home and grabbed my chainsaw and started working on eliminating unwanted tree growth. Spent 2-3 hours in the yard. Told husband about chainsaw not working right after the chain jumped off The forth or fifth time. He said it sounds like it needed a new chain.

today we called store found the had chains so took saw with to make sure it would work. Happy dance. It fit. i filled on lawn bag full of yard waste. husband Got the rider out so I moved the pile of branches I cut yesterday and added another two feet of branches I cut today. That doesn’t include what I kept for the fire pit.

I think I am getting my exercise in finally.

It definitely sounds like you’re getting your exercise in and being super productive at the same time! That’s my favorite kind of exercise. Sounds awesome!!

Sorry I was so delayed. The protein water is making me ill. Oh well. The soy protein works in smoothies just as well. I think my system is actually protesting the whey/wheat protein. Oh yeah the dark cherry tree is in awesome bloom

Drank 8 oz of protein water yesterday got sick last night. Weighed in today. 6.3 lbs down from last weigh in two weeks ago. happy dance. With all the rain I need to drain the pool again. If all goes well the new liner should be here by the 23. Time to fill the pool and get solar blanket on to get it to start warming. Still lots of leveling to do before then plus eliminate trees

The yard work is never ending. I did get some help from a good friend of mine. I drained the pool a second time. With my friend helping. was also cutting logs from tree I took down. Had a close call as it fell on the landline phone wire. Was able to cut a few side limbs and tree was off wire. Got pool down to practicly no water. Friend had to go. Next day I was able to get all the legs on the pool down by my self, and some of those legs were tough. Friend came back. Was having trouble getting two of the frame poles out from the top of the pool. Resorted to cutting the liner off the poles on two sides one short and one long. The pool somehow glued itself to the pole. Got the pool cut in corners to fold it. Needed one more person, called my son. He came over and the three of us got that liner folded and ready for the curb. New liner is in yard at front of the house,and new drop cloth is waiting to be put down as soon as area is leveled. That is next. Tried three landscapers no show.

I weigh in, in about 10 days I am hoping all this work pays off.
husband decided we need a dumpster to get rid of stuff. For the last two days I have been filling a dumpster with a leaky queen size air mattress and waterbed mattress and a ring blow up pool that the birds kept putting holes in. I did this by self. Still waiting on husband. Got rid of a dead refrigerator. I am proud of me. Going to tear down current shed on Monday to add to dumpster. Getting 7x7 pool shed Tuesday For chemicals and my yard tools. And in four weeks 10x20 motorcycle shed for two antique bikes and our three harleys And don’t forget the rider mower and gas powered push mower,

I think I am tired. I am working hard. Getting my waters but sometimes missing a meal or snack but I do try.
