Hi. I have had my first 4 hour appointment. Working on the checklist for pre-surgery items. I have one last test on Monday! Then they will schedule my last 4 hrs appointment and schedule surgery. I went on 04.24.26, and I have started the process of changing my lifestyle. Finding what I think will be my obstacles. So far Im a fast eater, and drink with meals. I started timing meals, and doing all the recommended changes. I have lost 5.8 lbs this week.Shrinking that old fatty liver!

Hi Ali00627, why was your appointment 4 hours long? Mine was an hour. I'm confused. Did they do lots of the labs and tests right there?
I had a unique experience because my doctor invited a bunch of medical students in. From there I was part of numerous research studies. We did a lot of things like measure off a length of hallway, then walk down and back to a stopwatch. There were also a few overnight studies. I forgot until this very second it was all written up in the JAMA. I couldn't make heads or tails of it, but I was just one of thousands of patients who were monitored. My monitoring continued for 5 years. It's just one of the features a patient might experience when you have your surgery at a medical school. Anyway, every appointment I had went for hours and hours.

Congratulations on making the changes! What type of surgery did you decide to go with? Pre-surgery I used to drink with all meals and couldn't imagine not. Now it's a habit that I do okay with.

Thank you! Im going with the gastric sleeve. I did my final pre-test. Upper GI. All is good now waiting for my final day of doctors, before scheduling surgery.

Im in Louisvile,KY. I met with a NP, Psychologist, Dietician, and another NP. The team I chose was the right one for sure. I felt nothing, but peace the entire visit.

That makes me hopeful. I LOVE water and drink so much it. I'm so worried about this change in water habits post-op!
You don't have to drink LESS water post-op. 8 glasses of water will make it more difficult to pound down those sodas and coffee and other beverages many of us are drinking instead. But the best thing about drinking a lot of water is how it aids with digestion and contributes to weight loss. I drink at least 6 12-ounce bottles of spring water every day because I want to. I also have one cup of coffee in the morning. I can't say for sure, but I have a regular BM right after I drink my coffee, and I think that's because of the coffee. At 75, I have absolutely no trouble with incontinence or constipation and if you watch t.v. ads, they're filled with the horrors senior citizens face. Not me. I'm an old hippie and still feel like one!

I posted an article from the Mayo Clinic, a leader in bariatrics, and they lionized water consumption. If you can't find it here, just go to their website and search for water.

In the meantime, ::clink:: I raise my water glass to you, Aquawoman!
